Jacob Riley Richardson

My Mom giving Jake his first bath!

Well I thought I would do an update on our new little guy! We had Jacob Riley Richardson on 10-10-10! He was 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and 20 inches long! Saturday night Caleb and I took Josi out on a date! We took her to chillies and then to Target and came home and watched toy story and ate popcorn! She was so excited to have some special time with mom and dad and we loved it! At 3am I woke up thinking that I had peed my pants, so I went and changed my clothes and it happened again! I was trying to wake up Caleb who was sooooooooooo out of it. He was not registering that I was telling him my water had broke. I got up and looked on line to see if it was my water and it said it might be, I was not convinced and I really didn't want to get sent home so I got in the shower and went back to sleep! That morning I woke up to realize it was defiantly my water! We rushed out of the house and headed to Riverton hospital. We dropped Josi off at my parents and got admitted right in! My doctor was already there delivering babies and so he came in to say hi! He is seriously the best doc ever! They started the pitosin around 10:30 and the pains started coming! I got my epidural but it wasn't working on the left side. The contractions were killing me, but it finally worked a little. Jake was born at 3:27pm with no complications! They were about to move me when they realized I was having some major clotting. They got everything figured out and moved us to our room! Can I just say I love Riverton Hospital, the delivery rooms are huge and the room we stayed in was super nice too! I also loved my labor and delivery nurse Lindsay! She was so cute! We left the hospital Tuesday at 12 and headed home. When we got home Caleb had to hurry and do some homework for his Anatomy class that night. I thought I was going to have a nervous break down because he had to leave that night for class but my Mom came out and helped! He had to go to open lab after and he didn't get home till 12am. He had class the next morning at 7am so the first 2 days home started out rough. We than found out Jake had high Billy Rubin so we had to keep getting him checked. His levels came down on there own, so we thankfully didn't have to do the lights! Also he got a horrible circumcision and it is going to take some extra healing time. So after many visits to the doctor, we woke up to go get his pictures taken. Jake had a horrible smell to him, he smelled like a rotting corpse! We ran him into the pediatrician to find out his belly button was infected. We have him on an antibiotic and his belly button has fallen off and he seems to be doing great now! It seems like things are going to start to mellow out around here finally! I got all caught up on my laundry today and I think I might survive having 2 kids! Josi is absolutely in love with her little brother. She says at least 10 times a day that he is so handsome! She also had a baby, she named her Kenzi! She was pregnant the whole time I was! In fact at the hospital she peed her pants and told my mom her water broke! She is fully potty trained and that's what makes it funnier! She got a baby that came with a stroller and swing and crib! She is quit the little mother! She loves it, and she seems to be adapting great! Jake is sleeping about 3 hour spurts for now, and he LOVES to eat! Good thing he has plenty to eat! I am pumping about 40-60 ounces of milk a day! I know that seems crazy, I agree! I have a high hormone that makes me produce like a machine! Babies are so fun, and it makes me wonder why I deserve 2 perfect little angels! We are all so excited that Jake made his debut finally and we cant wait to get to know him more!

Congrats on a very beautiful baby boy! So glad Josi is loving being a big sister. Sounds like you've had your fair share of Doctor trips after his birth though. Thank goodness your parents are nearby to help out. In Colorado they only let the OBGYN's perform the circ.on the babies and the pediatricians don't have anything do with it. But with Xander in UT, the pediatrician did it and Xander had problems with it later on. I'm hoping that with a surgeon doing Spencer's it turns out better. Good luck these next few weeks as you all get adjusted!

Love the story! I have been waiting to hear it. What a busy week and future ahead for your lil' family!! I just think he is such a cute baby. I think Josi looked a lot like him when she was a baby.....I think it's in the eyes. I am just soo happy for you! So glad you can pump as much as possible and sore it! You are for sure a MILK machine! That is an insane amount of ounces! I think I only every pumped Maybe 30 in one sitting. I hope this little note finds you during a pumping session ;) Love you Bets!

Bets! Why are you doing laundry???? What's a mother for? I was planning to help do things like that this week, but you keep telling me you are FINE. HA! Caught you! I love love love the pictures, can't wait to see the one where Jake pooped in Caleb's motorcycle helmet :) How blessed I am to have such cute grandkids! I had so much fun with Josi while you were in the hospital I was hoping they would keep you an extra day. I guess I'll just have to kidnap her one day. Such a cute family!!!! Love, Mom

Congratulations!! I am so glad everything went well and you are enjoying your new little guy! What a cool birthday, 10-10-10! So I had the same problem with my water breaking.. I thought I kept peeing my pants, and it went on for 5 days until I went to the doctor and they realized I was leaking! Glad you figured it out quicker than me!!! CONGRATS!
